In this lesson we will learn how to use the computer keyboard effectively and how to site properly so we don't injure ourselves while at the computer.

Just as important learning how to write letters is to our everyday life, so is learning how to type on a keyboard. Because by learning how to type well we won't have to worry about the act of typing, instead, we will be able to focus our attention on all the possibilities we can explore with technology.

Correct posture
is one key to typing fast....and to making sure you don't suffer an keyboarding injuries. What is the correct posture? Here are 8 Tips for sitting correctly at the keyboard:
1. Height of keyboard should be just 1 to 2 inches above your thighs
2. Center the keyboard and monitor in front of your body
3. Keep your elbows near your body in an open angle
4. Keep your arms level (perpendicular to the floor)
5. Keep your wrists nearly straight

6. Place your monitor about one arm's length away
7. Raise your chair so your viewing the monitor at eye level (not looking up or down at it)
8. Stay relaxed! Don't tense your shoulders, don't slouch, don't hold mouse too tight. Relax!

Let's Practice! 
Practice correct posture right now! Take 30-seconds to adjust your posture. Now, hold that position for 30-seconds. Repeat once. Repeat twice. Repeat one more time (3rd time is a charm).

Each time you sit in front of a computer or use a keyboard of any kind....remember your posture!
